Visiting the site

The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA; certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework). To deliver pages and protect the site, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser and the page requested, in short-lived server logs. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). There are no analytics and no advertising cookies. Fonts are hosted on this domain.

Starter Pack, kits and newsletter by email

If you ask for a Starter Pack, a kit or the newsletter, your email address is stored with MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, Vilnius, Lithuania), the service that sends our emails, under a data processing agreement. Pages with a sign-up form load MailerLite's form script, which receives your IP address when the page loads.

• Double opt-in. Nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email. MailerLite records the time of sign-up and confirmation as proof.
• What you get. The Starter Pack: the PDF, three short emails over the next nine days, then the occasional Second Curve newsletter. A kit: the PDF and a few emails about using it. The newsletter: an occasional note when something new is ready.
• Opens and clicks. Our emails record whether they were opened and which links were clicked, so we can see what is useful. You can avoid this by blocking images in your email app.
• Leaving. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also write to us. Your address is then no longer used for emails.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future.

The book question

The workbook forms on the pages printed in the books ask for the last word of a chapter, so the workbook goes to readers. The answer is checked on our server and not stored; only your email address goes on to MailerLite as described above.

Buttons to the books open Amazon in a new tab. Nothing is sent to Amazon until you click, and these are plain links, not affiliate links.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, data portability, and you can object to processing (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to a data protection authority; ours is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Ansbach.
